bronco's and barracuda's!?!

We met one of seira’s coworkers the other day named David (DA-veed)  he gives bio bay tours for Abe like seira does. He is really nice and knows everyone here! He is originally from St. Croix, but has lived here for a while. He told us the other day that he knew of two cars that were for sale cheap that he would take us by to see the next day. So the next day he comes by the house and picks us up and takes us to see this Bronco that his uncle and cousin who are mechanics are fixing and will sell it to us for $800 including the marbete (liability insurance) that usually costs $250. The Bronco is in good shape, the only problems are that it is rusted a little above the driverside door, and the engine is missing a little bit, so david said that he and his cousin were going to check the timing belt over the weekend and work on it, I also noticed when we were leaving that it only had one windshield wiper, on the drivers side, but then I thought about it and my car back at home ('89 mercedes, otherwise known as Benny Boo Boo!)only has one wiper –granted that’s how it was made – but at least the one wiper on the bronco is on the drivers side, and maybe we can find another and fix it!  Then he took us to see a trooper for sale that ended up being Christine’s (a girl who we work with, who actually gave us a ride home in the car one night!) trooper, it was for sale for 1,000 dollars, but when we got to the house her boyfriend Gary came out and said that it was not for sale anymore. But we really were more interested in the Bronco anyways! We thanked david a lot for taking us to see all the cars, and helping us out so much! He came by the next day in the morning with his cousin to work on seira and deweys car, because it needed to be aligned, the tires were wearing down wrong and ruining the tires. So after they finished with the car we ate a little lunch and headed out to blue beach with Seira and Dewey.

being silly in the water!

Chris has been so excited about going to blue beach because he went there with his family 3 years ago when they were here on vacation and apparently he loved blue beach because he would not stop talking about it every time we would go to any beach! So finally we found our way to blue beach and got to snorkel, there is an island in the middle of the water that has amazing snorkeling apparently!! I was a little nervous snorkeling because right before we went out there seira and dewey had to say…watch out for barracuda! WHATT?!??! EEEK!! and they told me that barracuda like shiny things (apparently i have something in common with barracuda!) so I immediately took off my earrings, and ring and any other shiny objects. And of course, not 5 minutes into snorkeling what do we see – a barracuda!! We were really close to it, it wasn’t too big but then it started swimming towards us and I flailed around trying to swim away, when chris pointed out that it was swimming away from us! At that point I did not want to go any further but chris said it was worth it because on the one side of the island is a little private beach that is really cool. So chris was so sweet and held my hand as we snorkeled further and I started feeling a little better. We saw a sting ray that was really pretty, all kinds of little fish, and brain coral, that was huge!!!
i promise this is a photo of a sting ray its just really hard to see!

fishies!

We finally made it to the “beach” that chris was talking about except it wasn’t so much of a beach, as it was just a place where you could stand outside of the water, but it was very cool!

after we caught our breath it was time to go back in. So we snorkeled out and made our way back to the shore, where we saw seira, david, and his 3 year old daughter.
we brought out the camera and she was workin' it!! Look at that stance! so cute!

Ciri (seedee) a guy from vieques that we have made friends with met us out there too. He speaks a little English and we speak a little Spanish, but we all want to learn the others language so we work together to teach each other. Its great! he is really really nice, and a cool guy. Dewey had gone out separate from us to use his spear guns that he has been making to spear fish. After chris and I got out, dewey came back a little later and had a bag full of fish!
david and ciri checking out deweys catch!

David told him to go put them in the car right then because fish and wildlife patrol will come and measure your fish and if they are too small they will give you a fine! So dewey put them in the back of the car which created a great aroma in the little car and especially for chris and me who sat in the back!  It was getting late and the bugs were about to come out so we all packed up our stuff, piled in the roach (the car) and headed home after a fun day! The beach was so beautiful but there were sand spurs everywhere! I am sure we will go back again soon, if chris has anything to do with it! He loves that beach!

i am almost all caught up with the posts!! :)
